Duane was part of the Meadowthorpe crowd.  We went to Linlee Elementary, and then the new Leestown Elementary.  I was always impressed with his gentlemanly demeanor.  He attended our 45th and was one of the few who wore a suit.

Duane and I were part of the Meadowthorpe gang that went to Lafayetter Junior and then on to Lafayette Senior.  He was one of my best friends and was Best Man in my wedding.  I lost track of him after college when I went into the Air Force.  Our paths crossed every now and then after I returned in 1975.  He was a kind, gentle giant. Always had a big smile and glad to see you.  He was an only child and his parents were characters.  I was shocked when he died.  I'll never forget the Willy's that he drove to school!  A really great guy.

I have a funny to tell about Duane. I worked for the Unemployment Insurance and I had to go to collect some unemployment taxes that were due. The business I believe was Furniture World in Eastland Shopping Center and he was the accountant for that business as his brother in law was the owner and he was advertising for Furniture World. I watched the ad and he dropped his pants on t.v. and showed his drawers which was hilarious and he said that that ad sold alot of furniture. He told me that he had his wife to sew up his fly before the commercial. We both laughed about that and everytime I saw him that topic was always in the conversation. He was a very comical person and is greatly missed.
