Jim was an avid U.K. basketball fan. I remember when I was in Boy Scouts that I ushered the ballgames and Jim had season tickets then in Memorial Coliseum and then when Rupp Arena was built he had tickets in the upper section and I would talk to him every game. He left to early in life and I always see him with Jim Williams at every home U.K. basketball game during half time.

I'll always remember "Jimmy" Stanley.  Jimmy lived on State Street a block over from my home on Waller. He was on my bus and we may have had some classes together but what stands out in my mind is the torture we (or maybe just me) endured at Halls's School of Dance.  Attending dance school was a rite of passage  in Lexington at that time.  The thinking was that sixth graders should be taught early the fundamentals of ballroom dancing and hopefully acquire some social graces in the process.  Jimmy and I struggled through the box step, foxtrot, rhumba, jitterbug and stepped/stomped on one another.    Jimmy was always sweet to dance with me... and they weren't exactly lined up to do so.  Jimmy wore braces and I wore glasses!  A few years ago when Jimmy and I were both working in Frankfort, we ran into one another and laughed about those days.  It was so good to catch up with him. He had not changed and was still so gracious and kind.  I was so sad to learn that he was taken too soon.
