Hugh was a clarinet player in the band. He lived across the field from me on a nearby street. We used to open our bedroom windows and play trumpet and clarinet to each other across the field.
I lived across the street from Hugh Charles and his wonderful family from the time I was 10 years old until just after HS graduation. It was with great sadness that I read that he had passed. I contacted his sister who shared with me a little of his life.

Hugh studied at both UK and EKU.
He worked for the Airlines, first in Chicago then Pennsylvania, retiring after 21 years. He returned to Lexington in 1996 and was very active in his church and with his family.
Hugh was the brother I never had and I am proud to have called him friend.
