In Memory

Walter Bowman

Walter Bowman

One of our Generals passed away Monday, November 9

Walter  served on our reunion committee when he had time and after the meeting, it was always enjoyable to reminisce with him about friends and Lafayette.   He was fun to visit with because he was such a good listener.

Visitation and services are this Friday.  See the obituary link.

Please tell us your memories.

Walter and I worked together, laughed together and he was a special friend who I saw at Kroger's and set together with his wife Vivian at the class reunions. He will be greatly missed. RIP Walter

Walter sat behind me in a Math class.  Through the years we had on going "email conversations", usually monthly if not weekly.  I was in total shock of his passing, because I just had some emails passed with him and he had made no mention of his pending surgery.  May the Lord our God embrace him.

I got to spend time with Walter in recent years working on our reunions. It was was such a treat to get reacquainted and to meet his engaging wife, Vivian. We all know the risks associated with surgery, but it has to be devastating when they occur.

Walter lived across the street from our family on Hummingbirt Ln until we moved in the early 1960's. His mom worked in the school cafeteria and gave us all rides to school when the weather was bad, and we helped out in the cafeteria until it was time for classes to start. We all played together on the street while we were growing up, and I believe my brother Joe, who passed away several years ago, played baseball with Walter. I was really saddened to hear of his passing. Ken Pavona
